Biblical wisdom teaches that we must know our enemies. The U.S. military is fighting a new kind of war. Just as the American Indians changed traditional English battle fields into sites of massacre, and Japanese kamikaze pilots turned aircraft carrier decks into death zones, Islamic terrorists have now assaulted unsuspecting public roadways with random explosions, and may well be plotting to turn U.S. shopping malls into Trinity Site. These enemies attempt to remain un-seen and hidden to make the most of the element of surprise.
Read 2 John verses 1-13 >>
I ask you to consider the unseen, invisible enemies that attack our families, homes, and communities. In what way do we leave the home-front undefended, exposed and open to the enemy? When John wrote this letter, Christians were inviting false-teachers into their homes, feeding and supporting them, and sending them on their merry way. In what way do we carry on that dangerous practice? In what ways to do we allow unseen enemies to attack our wives, sons, daughters, and grand-children? In what we do we invite false teachers into our homes, support and feed them?
Biblical wisdom tells us to protect our home, wife, children, business and church. Biblical wisdom says the unseen forces of the world are our real enemy. We not only need to provide for the physical needs of our families, we must guard and protect the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our family. We need to stop inviting the false-teachers, the humanist, secularist, and materialists into the lives of our wives and children. We need to stop feeding and supporting the false teachers that assault our churches, families, businesses and communities.
While the U.S. military is protecting the physical realms of U.S. interests at home and abroad, let us defend the unseen realms; the mental, emotional, and spiritual lives of our families.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.– Matthew 10:28 NIV
Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
